The purpose of this article is to enact and implement a program promoting the safety
of county personnel and the public they serve. This safety program is established
pursuant to, and is to be carried out consistently with, applicable federal, state,
and local laws, regulations, and rules. This article is prepared with reference to
the California Labor Code, Division 5, Part 1 - Occupational Safety and Health, and
the California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Division 1 - Department of Industrial
Relations, and the definitions of "employee," "injury," "illness" and "injury and
illness prevention program" contained therein, as they may be amended from time to
time.
